The Pacific Northwest ...
The unique beauty of a major waterway surrounded by a landscape featuring majestic mountains, tall pines, and a variety of colorful spring wildflowers would be an attraction in itself. For a Railfan, the addition of two busy railroad lines skirting both shores of the waterway, makes this area known as The Columbia River Gorge SPECTACULAR! In this video, you’ll see trains of The BNSF along the north (Washington) side of the gorge from North Bonneville to Wishram / O.T. Junction. Some great pacing footage is included! The trains in this video are identified with their symbol using a brief on-screen graphic. Even more info is given on some trains!

This video features trains of the UP in The Blue Mountains, at Hinkle Yard, and along the Umatilla River from Nolin to Pendleton. You’ll also see the UP skirting the south shore of The Columbia River Gorge from Cascade Locks to O.T. Junction.  Perhaps the best moment during this trip was catching the first run of UP's new "Winged" SD70M's #'s 4000-4004 as they came through Meacham, OR with Train ZAPSE on May 18th, 2000! The trains in this video are identified with their symbol using a brief on-screen graphic. Even more info, such as loads, empties, tons, and length is given on most trains!

In June of 1987, spend 7 days of railfanning on The CP, CN, and BCR in Southwest British Columbia. The video that I shot has become more and more priceless. Every train had a caboose. CP & CN stuck to their own sides of The Fraser & Thompson River Canyons. The British Columbia Railway was still running lots of big ALCO / MLW's! The Royal Hudson Steam excursion was in full service. No doubt one thing remains constant, whether it be 1987 or present... the scenery is SPECTACULAR! Camera work is fair to good, Picture quality is good, content is CLASSIC! Many trains are shown in their entirety!
