While these programs represent some of the railroad lines that have fallen under sale or merger over
the years, the big one (for us) was CONRAIL. Check out our listing of great CONRAIL programs!
Action on the Bangor & Aroostook and the Saint Lawrence & Atlantic Railroads. You'll see the BAR from Searsport, Maine to the northern border with Canada. Locations include Northern Maine Junction, Brownville Junction, Millinocket, and Madawaska. We cap off our visit to the BAR with a cab ride on the Searsport Local! Then watch the SLR from Danville Junction, Maine to Island Pond, Vermont. We even covered the line north of Island Pond to the Canadian Border owned by CN! Once again we cap off our visit with a great cab ride from Berlin, NH to Island Pond, VT! You'll also see a bit of the Canadian Atlantic at Brownville Junction and the Canadian National just north of the Maine Border.

BURLINGTON
NORTHERN FINALE

-MIDWEST MAINLINES-

In the months right after the merger with the Santa Fe, Hal Pantti explored two of Burlington Northern’s most important main lines, the ex-Northern Pacific from Eastern Montana into Minnesota, and the ex-Chicago, Burlington & Quincy from Galesburg, Illinois to Lincoln, Nebraska. Both lines became major arteries for the coal from the Powder River Basin into the Burlington Northern era. While the BNSF was in it’s infancy, the footage that Hal shot is just about pure BN. In this program you’ll see a variety of the power that BN operated and the trains it pulled from a nice selection of locations!

BURLINGTON
NORTHERN FINALE

-POWDER RIVER COAL-
In the months right after the merger with the Santa Fe, Hal Pantti explored Burlington Northern's "Coal Country". Beginning at Lincoln, Nebraska, Hal traveled to Alliance. Then he followed a loop, traveling over the Angora, Valley, Canyon, Orin, Black Hills, Edgemont and Butte Subdivisions, finally arriving back in Alliance for the return trip home. In this program although the BNSF had just formed, you'll witness the final months of what still looked like true BN action in this region. As the Union Pacific shared the Orin Sub, you will see UP trains as well as UP power, which often pooled with BN power. Plenty of great locations!

One of the greatest engineering feats in railroading history. This program captures a key moment. Cabooses were making their final appearances. The SF & SP were getting ready for their merger with the short-lived "Kodachrome" paint scheme. Of course the merger never happened, but the railroads continued on for several more years before merging with other lines. This program features huge intermodals on the Santa Fe, the tank trains ("oil cans") on the Southern Pacific, end even a loaded coal train with 2 sets of helpers climbing the loop! The loop is covered from a variety of locations. Plus action from Caliente to Mojave. Also brief looks at Barstow, CA yard, and Cajon Pass. This is amateur footage, digitally edited and re-mastered!

THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE
in the ARIZONA FOREST

A DIGITAL RE-MASTER OF OUR POPULAR 1997 RELEASE, NOW WITH NARRATION, CHAPTER MENUS AND EVEN BETTER PICTURE QUALITY!

OCTOBER, 1996... THE SANTA FE AND THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN HAD JUST BECOME THE BNSF. SCORES OF OLDER LOCOMOTIVE MODELS AND PAINT SCHEMES FROM THE TWO RAILROADS WERE STILL POLISHING THE RAILS ON THE SELIGMAN SUBDIVISION, WHILE THE NEWER PAINT SCHEMES QUICKLY NICKNAMED “PUMPKINS”, WERE MAKING APPEARANCES ELSEWHERE. IN THIS PROGRAM WE WILL FOLLOW THE SELIGMAN SUBDIVISION FOR A STRETCH OF 80 MILES WHERE THE ELEVATION TRANSFORMS RATHER DESOLATE LAND INTO WHAT WE LIKE TO CALL “THE ARIZONA FOREST”!
Non stop action from all the great locations and some
excellent “off the beaten path” spots as well!

CSX had been in charge for a few years, but the “CAT” still lives strong in June of 1988. This program shows action at Cumberland, Maryland, and on the east side of the Sand Patch grade. Many trains feature pure Chessie System power, and some other interesting stuff was also seen during this trip. This is amateur footage mastered to a thoroughly enjoyable DVD!
